The challenge

Q: What challenges did you encounter that required Mongoose Web Server Library? How does Mongoose Library help you get your job done?

A: We had a legacy embedded web application that needed to be rewritten to run on both WinCE and Linux. The hardware platform was an ARM4 system so speed and efficiency were very important.

The decision

Q: Can you share a little about why you chose Mongoose Web Server Library and the process that led there?

A: About 8 years ago we found the Mongoose library and continued to evaluate it as it evolved. The evaluation was developing prototypes on various embedded systems like WinCE, FreeRTOS and Linux. We even had cases where we evaluated on desktop Windows. The performance, efficiency, compactness and ease in embedding into existing applications led to a purchase.

Q: What was it like integrating with Mongoose Web Server Library?

A: The library is extremely easy to use for all platforms which was a pleasant surprise.

The results

Q: What changed for you after you integrated the Mongoose Web Server Library?

A: Our legacy application that was rewritten runs 10 times faster, even on older platforms, and supports modern communication protocols like WebSockets. That is a significant benefit. Furthermore, the same application was used on other platforms hardware and operating systems which made our lives easier.
